Listening diary - by Romina Arjolekas

I was listening to BBC News. The most shocking news I have listened were two.
The first one was about a 39-year-old woman who gave birth before dying with swine flu.
The other one was about a football manager who was shot at least six times by a man who scaped in a bike.
Some phrases I understood were:
"A gunman jumped from the bushes and shot the football manager several time. He fired again to scare away the dying manager's players before fleeing"
"Where that happened is a very busy area, plenty people jogging, plenty people walking their dogs"
"Ryan will be remembered as a huge personality and as a great football man"

  1. Isn't it interesting that the news uses such phrases as "a huge personality"? Did you understand what they meant from the context? You did a very good job of writing what you heard! :)
